How many lots are left? When will more be available?
August 14, 2007: TEN lots are available... Lots 1-50 have been SOLD!!! 9 new lots on the East side, 5 have been sold. There are 2 lots in the northwest corner left and 1 down the middle to the east, 3 to the west. Call us now to pick the lot you want.
What kind of boat motors are allowed on the lake?
Lake Oconee leaps to the front of the pack in terms of being environment friendly... We have taken the measure to allow ONLY four-stroke boat motors. We feel this allows us to control, as much as possible, the injection of oil into our beautiful water. We want to keep it as clean and pure as we can..for as long as we can. Honda and Mercury make a four-stroke outboard motor. I/O boats are four-stroke.
There is over 100 acres of water!
Yes, there are over 100 acres of water! And it is CLEAR, BLUE and CLEAN.
Can I have a jet ski?
No, there will be NO jet skis or personal watercraft allowed on the lake.
Who makes the Lake Rules?
There is a Lake Oconee Estates Homeowners Association. A set of Rules and Regulations is available. The rules are designed to protect our water quality and to allow for the mutual enjoyment of Lake Oconee by fishermen and boaters.
Where will my kids go to school?
The school district is Platte Center Elementary and Lakeview High School. However, Columbus Public Schools is available in a variety of ways. If your kids have been enrolled in the Columbus School District for two years they are able to attend a CPS school and graduate from Columbus High School. This is allowed by State Law. The Option Program allows for enrollment in CPS during a September 1 through June 30 period. Currently CPS is taking those students that apply during this time. In all cases a call to the Superintendent of Schools where you want your child to attend is encouraged.
Is Lake Oconee a public lake?
No, Lake Oconee is a private lake. Only Lot owners and their guests are allowed to use the water for boating and fishing. Our road is a private road and we are keeping the main gates locked for the privacy of our lot owners.
