REMINDER OF DONATION SUNDAY

The Social concerns and Missions Committee would like to remind you, on the second Sunday of each month, we are going to highlight our congregation’s generosity to our local missions by bringing forth some of the donated items to the altar for blessing.

We will not be able to acknowledge all of our donated items, but we want to bring awareness to the wonderful generosity of this congregation. The local missions, for which we currently collect items, include: Platte County Food Pantry, Center for Survivors, and the Humane

Society.

Communicating the Vision!

New Church Sign in the Works!

Imagine being able to see when special services during the Christmas and Easter seasons will be held?  Imagine being able to share with our neighbors, in addition to our church family,  when any of our worship services occur along with special events such as the Women’s Bake and Garage Sale, the Youth Musical, VBS, the Advent Children’s  Workshop, guest musicians and choral groups, or extraordinary guest speakers?  Have you noticed that we do not have even the most basic information about the office hours, times of worship, or  the pastor’s name  anywhere on the outside of our building including the doors ?  Just imagine what might happen with a welcoming sign that is a beacon of hospitality and invitation in Columbus.

If you are excited about the possibilities so are we on the Property and Finance committee and our Council.  With the encouragement and support of our Pastor, Jim Wooten, we are ready to make a long sought dream a reality.  If you believe, as we do, that this will strengthen communication within our church family and encourage those seeking a church home to join with us, please give generously to this project.

We leaders are confident that you as a congregation, some of whom have already volunteered, will want to underwrite the costs of this project.  After having sought other bids, we are going to let the contract to Schieffer Signs, Inc. of Columbus for $14, 500.00.  They can complete the sign within three weeks after receiving the order to begin.  The information on the sign will be managed in the office each week with software that will allow us to change the text, and how it appears, on the four lines provided.  Dr. Wooten is hoping that we can have the sign completed by mid- August in order to promote the beginning of the program year in our church in September.

Please prayerfully consider how you can contribute to this project.  Simply mark your check to the “Communicating the Vision” project and mail it to the church office or place it in the offering on Sundays.  Just as we gave generously to complete our building campaign four years ago, we have this extra giving opportunity to help us communicate the vision of renewal and growth we believe God has given us.

-          Lynn Higgins and Terry Norris, Co-Chairs,  Property and Finance
