The Columbus Collaborative Team (CCT) and the
Columbus area United Way conduct a community needs
assessment for Columbus every five years and just issued its
latest report in April, 2005. The goal of this process was,
"to construct an accurate picture of the current state of
people living within the Columbus area and identify needs,
prompting action for improvements in our community".
The results of the assessment will help to steer the
activities of CCT and the United Way for the next several
years. The information has also been shared with
decision-makers in the community.
The CCT Board of Directors has considered
the results of the needs assessment and has decided to
sponsor four standing committees to address priority issues
for the next several years. The committees are: Child Care;
Children & Families; Diversity and Youth Development. For
further information on their activities, look at the
"Committees" page.
Although Child Care was not identified in
a general community survey as a priority need, the CCT Board
did consider a recent report done by its Child Care Standing
Committee which had been operating for several years. It
found that infant care, evening care and quality of services
are still a concern, so the committee will continue to
operate.
